The Influx of New and Foreign Flavours

Our country is filled with newcomers, comprising all creeds, races and nationalities. By using it came adding imported foods from overseas, presented at our supermarkets. They were not only introduced for that usage of these newcomers (based on the eating customs and traditions of the native countries), but maybe - otherwise too severely exotic - to tempt us!

It is amazing such a little added flavour, inside a new method of cooking, can perform to enhance the dining room table! Maybe these "goodies" within the supermarket exist to tempt us to dare to place a little zest and excitement within our otherwise already familiar meal, as well as tempt us to experiment just a little and surprise the household with an entirely latest version of eating meats and vegetables!

Speaking of meats and vegetables (meat being so expensive) perhaps eating rather less of same and supplementing the discrepancy with such foods our adopted newcomers eat, like pasta and dried legumes, for example lentils, which, incidentally, are full of vegetable protein and therefore adequately replace a meat dish in some places - as a lentil casserole for example!

Why not give a little chopped, pickled gherkin to some potato salad, passing on extra flavour; or creating a nice tomato soup from imported, canned diced tomatoes? The first kind need not be expensive and also the latter being offered for less than a $1.00 each! A lot of ways it's possible to add a "foreign touch" to established cooking practices with a brand new taste and flavour! The addition of the small garlic clove is not as foreign as once or in the beginning imagined; but adds, in cooked form, flavour towards the dish and it is known to be by itself one of the healthiest "miracle foods" available.

So, please mum, you shouldn't be chicken! Dare just a little adventure inside your kitchen! Ensure that it stays a secret what your secret's; but delight the household with the outcome!
