Whether it's a guitar for any teen musician's birthday, a spead boat for a disappearing party or perhaps a Scooby Doo cake for any child's birthday; the smoothness or novelty cake remains a favorite, particularly the kind that's so easily created using a mold cake pan. Character and novelty pans can be purchased at large craft stores and baking supply stores. There are also them online from well- known suppliers.
We're seeing increasingly more castle cakes at parties now too, from Cinderella's castle to enchanting sculptures for Renaissance events.
The more unusual party cakes are becoming lots of attention lately, like the volcano cake. It isn't your typical chocolate lava cake without doubt! This one steams and spews lava, because of dry ice and something of the fun cake recipes from "Cake Decorating Done affordably!" Here's what one reader wrote about our Video Books:
"I sat glued to the pc watching the videos and reading the moment I got it. It's wonderful!!! I have plenty of instruction manuals which i have attempted to follow previously. Watching your videos once makes all the difference to my cake decorating skills. I especially love the flower making and is going to be making cakes filled with flowers ASAP (its spring within Australia so perfect timing!!!).
Thank you again for any wonderful, informative, and affordable product"

Another unique and fun cake idea may be the beach pail cake. An alternative of the flowerpot cake (an enjoyable one for any gardener or kids incidentally), the beach pail cake are a wide hit with toddlers who enjoy really digging to their cakes.
A plastic beach pail is stuffed with pudding cake and topped having a thin layer of cookie crumb sand. Vanilla sandwich cookies make the perfect choice for this since the filling adds some moisture towards the crumbs. So when the cake's "all gone" your child has a new toy!
Speaking of toys, doll cakes still please. Barbie type dolls having a real doll having a cake and icing dress are popular not just with young school age girls, but grown up girls too. Creating this kind of cake attracts the fashion designer in us!
And finally, buttercream and royal icing roses continue being a top request cakes from the young girl's birthday to some grandmother's retirement party.
Wedding Cake Ideas
The word from wedding cake designers is "Less is much more." Today's bride prefers a much less ornate design. Whether classic or whimsical, understated is usually preferred. Fondant remains a favorite cake covering because its satiny smooth finish applies well towards the wedding cake ideas that brides are bringing for their cake decorators.
Many from the more popular cake ideas are originating from an Asian influence, for example white decorations on white icing, accented lightly with red.
Popular wedding cake ideas will also be influenced by the present wave of colours that are replacing the white fondant and buttercream.
Ice blue, light blush, rum pink, and lavender are selling the backgrounds for quietly elegant or whimsical decorations for example silver polka dots, sugar crystallized fruits and daisies. Roses, orchids and lilies continue being part of today's wedding cake ideas.
Of course, decorating alone doesn't create a great cake. Taste and texture count too!
And here's an additional cake idea: To have an easy to make castle cake, use empty paper towel tubes and frozen treats cones (the sugar cone variety) for that turrets. Or just the cones alone may be used.
Cover them first with icing and glue with royal icing to some graduated square or round, stacked cake (use several graduated square pans to produce the cake). Fly colorful flags from the top of the turrets. It may be made with construction paper, cut in triangular shapes and that come with icing or glue to toothpicks.
If you've enough ice cone turrets to serve, you could even fill the cones with icing - assuming you do this right before serving!
